Heat Map – A great way to present geographical differences in a dataset

In your role, do you ever need to present geographical differences in data, either within a country or across countries? Excel spreadsheets or huge tables capture this information, but in a very dull, uninspiring way. A Heat Map could be the data visualisation tool that you are looking for.

At Purdie Pascoe, we recent won ‘Analyst Team of the Year’ at the BOBI awards, in conjunction with our friends at The Stats People, for our analysis of the COVID-19 data both internationally and domestically. An element in our winning submission was a Heat Map to show how COVID case rates and deaths rates differed by region in England. Please click on the image below to see the dashboard.
